On Wednesday, October 30, the Powerhouse Nord initiative held its first congress in Wilhelmshaven to exchange scientific and technical information about the local region.
Over the past year, a number of personalities from business, science, politics, administration and civil society, particularly from the northwest, have come together to form an alliance. The region between the Ems and Elbe rivers has much more to offer than is commonly reported, than many other regions believe or than we might all think. The aim of Powerhouse Nord is to publicize this potential, to promote the north economically and scientifically, but also to increase political relevance and quality of life.
The cross-industry network addresses the north's achievements in renewable energies, the lack of infrastructure in research, medicine and transport, for example, in order to increase the region's attractiveness and competitiveness. Felix Thalmann, CEO of the BÜFA Group, was one of the initiators of this network. “Powerhouse Nord wants to combine its strengths to promote the ecological, economic and social development of the north and work towards a major task. This fits perfectly with BÜFA's important, fundamental goal of shaping a future that is enkelfähig – here as elsewhere,” emphasizes Felix Thalmann.
Now BÜFA as a company is also a registered supporter, to be part of this alliance and to actively support it. Here, forces are being combined for the ecological, economic and social advancement of the north, so that everyone can not only grow together but also work together, thus building the region of the future in Germany.
