The BÜFA Group continues to expand and has taken over the Swedish company MacSerien with retroactive effect from 1 January 2024. The MacSerien Group is an expert in the fields of water treatment, vehicle washing and sustainable product solutions and has been a pioneer in innovative and environmentally friendly applications for many years.
Last year, the Oldenburg-based chemical company acquired 25 per cent of MacSerien's shares after the two companies entered into a strategic partnership in 2022. ‘The acquisition of MacSerien is an important step in our strategy of developing sustainable solutions for the challenges of the future,’ explains Felix Thalmann, CEO of the BÜFA Group.
The focus here is on developing environmentally friendly products and processes with a particular emphasis on water as a resource – one of the central issues of our time. The acquisition of MacSerien will enable new markets to be tapped and expertise in the field of sustainable technologies to be further expanded internationally. ‘Together, we can combine our innovative strength and launch pioneering products in the field of water treatment and sustainable cleaning technologies that make a positive contribution to the environment and society,’ adds Sebastian Specht, Managing Director of the Cleaning division.
MacSerien Group has two production sites in Sweden and Estonia and additional sales offices in parts of Scandinavia. In 2023, the cleaning products manufacturer generated a turnover of 12 million euros. Its products are used primarily in the car cleaning, water treatment, catering and various industrial sectors. MacSerien's innovations include water-reduced chemicals and sustainable water recycling to support an environmentally conscious circular economy. ‘As part of the BÜFA Group, we can make a valuable contribution to the development of innovative and environmentally conscious cleaning solutions. With the takeover of the Swedish MacSerien Group, BÜFA Cleaning is not only becoming more international, but is also strengthening its position as one of the leading suppliers of cleaning, disinfection and maintenance products as well as specialised services. In recent years, the BÜFA Group has increasingly developed into a European group of companies, acquiring new locations in the Chemicals and Composites divisions. By internationalising the Cleaning business unit, the Oldenburg chemical company is consistently pursuing this course.
